Using a MiGE servo motor I build a direct drive force feedback racing simulator wheel with 30nm of torque and a 10,000ppr resolution. In addition, I built a custom aluminum desk mount and programmable button box.

This project gave me many small design and engineering challenges. A lot of the work was the "last 10%" of finishing touches. As a result, this project is very much a finished product. Everything was carefully planned, and done right.

I now use this wheel to compete in several sim racing leagues, as well as sim drifting competitions. The ultra-dynamic and high-strength force feedback gives me an incredibly realistic experience. When combined with a VR headset, it is easy to lose touch with reality when in the sim.

Since this page was last updated mid-2022, the sim rig is still very much in use. There have been major upgrades made and it is now better than ever. I use the simulator for driver training daily, and it has absolutely paid off.
